Ripon Garden Club and City of Ripon
Memorial Rose Garden

The Ripon Garden Club, in partnership with the City of Ripon, have established a
Memorial Rose Garden in Mavis Stouffer Park in Ripon. We received a partial grant from Plant America to assist with the foundation of the garden. Four beds are planted with over 50 roses in shades of red, pink, orange, and multi-colored. The Memorial Rose Garden was developed in remembrance of one of our members whose favorite flower was the rose and, along the fence line, the Penny Lane rose is planted in her memory. Additionally, the Garden Club undertook the refresh of the existing Camellia Garden, originally planted 1988. Memorial benches are placed to encourage enjoyment of the fragrance and beauty of the garden.

The Project
Over two years ago we started scouting locations throughout Ripon for the garden. Mavis Stouffer Park was selected right in front of Stouffer Hall.
We hope residents and visitors at the park will enjoy the garden.
Working with Morris Nursery Landscape Designer, Jadwiga Hoffman, we developed a plan for the garden. The first step, create a foundation, then irrigation. In February 2025 the Camellia Garden was refreshed, fence built and hard crafted arbor completed.
March 2025 the roses are planted.
We would like to thank Plant America Community Project Grants, Ripon Parks and Recreation Department as well our our volunteers for their efforts building the garden.
